Deputy Regional Managers Required

Overview:

Appointed by the relevant Regional Manager, the DRM’s prime responsibility is to support the Regional Manager and amateur radio at local level, and also manage the relationships between the clubs in their district either via the Club Secretary, or other contact, and the Regional Manager, in a competent and professional manner to maximise the benefits the members receive at local level from the RSGB.

They are usually responsible for at least a county-sized area, are appointed by the relevant Regional Manager, and serve for three years. The Regional Manager may remove them from office at any time.

Profile:
The DRM will:

a)Be a corporate member of the Society;
b)Reside in their district;
c) Have, ideally, served as a Committee member, Secretary or chairman of a radio club or repeater group;
d) Have telephone and e-mail facilities;
e) Be a good communicator and be reasonably well known within the area they live;
f) Will have a flexible attitude to working practices and have time available outside of the working
day to support fellow radio amateurs and groups.

Deputy Regional Manager (DRM)

Reporting to:
Regional Manager

Responsible for:
a)A link between the Membership and the Regional Council via the Regional Manager
b) Advice and support to Affiliated Societies, Clubs and Groups.
c)Support to Members within their area.
d) Submitting important area issues requiring clarification to the RM for discussion.
e) Attending meetings as required.
f) Submitting a monthly activity report to the RM.
g) Gaining authority for club visits from the RM.
h)Submitting monthly expense claims to the Membership Services Director in a timely manner.
i) Supporting Affiliated Societies, Clubs and Groups within their area.
j)Giving RSGB presentations to clubs and groups as appropriate and as agreed with your RM. This will be approximately 6 visits each year.
K) Maintaining a directory of all RSGB and amateur radio resources within their district.

Time Required:
As most AR activities occur at weekends ie Rallies you must be free most sundays and have time in the evening during the week to conduct a number of club visits through-out the year.

Term of Office:
Initially 3 years, a DRM may be appointed for subsequent terms as required by the RM.

Although this post is voluntary. All general expenses are paid including a mileage allowance.
