A Special Events Station, GB2RD is being run at the Museum of Berkshire Aviation, Mohawk Way, Woodley, on Saturday 31st Ocober 2009.
Co-ordinates are 51.27 02.14N
and o 52 58 86W if you have GPS.
Time of operation will be 0930 until close and teardown, at approximately 4pm or just before.
This will be one of the final events in the Reading Club's 75th year and is an ideal opportunity to link up with other significant local Societies ahead of the Museums on the Air event, in 2010.
We shall be operating from the new Foyer of the Museum and we need Operators of all licence groups to man the Station throughout the day.
We would particularly welcome newer licence holders, M3, M6 and 2E, as it will be an ideal opportunity to get operating experience at higher power outputs with Full Licence Holders in attendance.
Can you please help, and volunteer, and email me advising of your willingness to assist, saying whether you prefer morning, afternoon or whenever, so we can set up a roster.
We envisage One Operator and one logger per session for approx 45 minutes each, with Operators and Loggers swapping around.
We will be active on 80, 40 and 20 metres and possibly 10 metres as well, along with VHF.
Some help will be needed at 8am to help erect the mast and set up the station, and demount it at the end as well.
The event is being organised by Eric Curling M0LUV and Colin Couston M0XSM.
There will be Tea/Coffee available, and the opportunity of seeing some of Berkshire's Historic Aircraft, Artifacts, photographs and memorobilia.
The Museum relies solely on bequests and entry fees into the museum, so we would ask that is you wish to tour around this fascinating museum,
that you make a modest donation on entry to the Museum displays.
Entry to the foyer where we will be operating from is, of course, FOC.!!
The Museum, and of course, the station, is open to the Public.
